LASG WARNS BUYERS TO BEWARE OF PROPERTY WITHOUT PLANNING PERMIT
The warning was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako in Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday.
The Commissioner noted with dismay the persistent disregard for Physical Planning Laws by developers, who have continuously engaged in building construction without approval all over the State, cautioning buyers to beware of property without Planning Permit so as to avoid being caught up by the law.
He said, “It is disheartening that despite the concerted efforts of the Lagos State Government to reverse the ugly trend of illegal building construction and its menace, some developers are still not adhering to the building regulations of the State”.
Salako urged prospective property buyers and uptakers, who happen to be the end-users of such buildings, to request from developers, prior to concluding any transaction, Planning Permit duly registered by the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), and/or visit the nearest LASPPPA office to confirm the authenticity of such Planning Permit.
"Henceforth, the General Public should view the above advice seriously as a precondition for buying property in Lagos State in order to avoid the enforcement activities of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, which will not be persuaded by sentiments", the Commissioner declared.
He also solicited the cooperation of all residents to birth an orderly, organised, livable and sustainable environment as envisioned in the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.
