LSAME Organizes Webinar To Commemorate 2020 Literacy Day

As part of effort to ensure all residents of the state are well informed and to possess the ability to read, write and comprehend, the Lagos State Government has put all necessary plans in place to organise a webinar for her teeming Youths and Adults population.

The webinar is expected to be in commemoration of this year's international literacy day which is tagged: "Literacy teaching and learning in the COVID-19 crisis and beyond, especially the role of educators and new pedagogies."

The webinar is to feature seasoned speakers like Dr. (Mrs) Adejoke Ajayi, who is a lecturer at Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) and Dr. Blessing Anyikwa of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Special Adviser on Education to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab is expected to grace the event as the Chief Host.

The program is scheduled to hold on Tuesday 8th September, 2020 by 11am.

One of the members of Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative (IDYI) Board of Trustees (BOT), Mrs. Oluwakemi Kalesanwo is the Director of the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education, which happens to be the agency organizing the webinar.

It should be noted that, 8 September was declared international literacy day by UNESCO on 26 October 1966 at 14th session of UNESCO's General conference. It was celebrated for the first time in 1967. It's aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies.

Celebrations take place in several countries.

The general public are invited to join the Webinar on 8th September Wednesday at 11am. Make contributions towards the development of literacy in Lagos State.
