Ikorodu Youths Addresses APC Leaders In An Open Letter

OPEN LETTER TO ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS LEADERS IN IKORODU DIVISION BY IKORODU DIVISION NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN


1. Just as we approach the climax of the local government elections in Ikorodu division, we consider it apposite to write you our revered leaders as an advocate of youth inclusiveness in governance and the foremost preacher of the Not To Young To Run Gospel in the division.

2. Away from the regular complaints and kvetch that youths do not participate in politics and ofcourse the cliche,_power is not served a la carte _ we approach with clear facts that the forthcoming local government election, with the number of aspirants in the race and the one still in wide consultation and will be joining the already long list, has the highest number of youth involvement in the history of elections in Ikorodu Division.

3. It is safe to say that the youths are awake and are ready to play their part in the development of the division, it is now left for you our fathers to welcome us with open hands, grant us safe landing and do not give room for extrication.

4. In a recent publication, The leadership of your great party, The All  Progressives Congress slashed the form fee for aspirants below 40 years by 50% to encourage more youths to participate in running of the state and for the Country to continue to exist as a going concern, we appreciate the leadership of the party for this noble gesture, it is a step in the right direction.

5. Similarly, The legal draftsmen,by the provisions of the 4th Constitution Alteration Act (No. 27) recognizes the place of youths in governance, understanding that the age arrangement in use at that time  constitutes great constraint to rational policy making,innovation in governance among other factors that aids good governance and to this end  reduced the age limit of aspirants contesting public office to the most comfortable minimum, this we also consider a forward thinking approach and applaud such rational decisions.

6. Importantly, you are considered leaders today because you held political offices at the state and national level in your prime, going by this the local government elections should have been an exclusive preserve for the youths, where this is not possible for obvious political irregularity, the competent youths in the race should be granted concession and  handed certain privileges that makes their aspiration unassailable.

7. If we do not involve our youths in this present election,for the sake of political experience, we have a placed a heavy stone on our path to the *Ikorodu Division for Governor Dream* and a big rock on *Ikorodu Division for President Aspiration*, this is a very important point that should not be discountenanced. 

8. The propeller of the IkoroduDivisionNotTooYoungToRun therefore appeal strongly in unison to you all, to put the interest of young aspirants below the age of 40 into consideration, as much as possible assist in fulfilling their dream,do your due dilligence in ensuring they show the greatest merit and are eminently qualified then ensure the best of them gets the ticket to represent the great party in the election.

9. We know is a prayer of every Community and  parents to see their Children doing tremendously well, this is the noblest thing to do and it will defitinitely be worth it for you as leaders to prepare for a good successor as we experience in other part of the country.

Igbega Ikorodu's Samson Bisiriyu Awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree

The Convener of Igbega Ikorodu Movement, Comrade Samson Bisiriyu has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Ultimate University of Science and Technology, Republic of Benin. Comrade Samson Bisiriyu who is also a former aspirant of Ikorodu consistuency 1 at the Lagos State State House of Assembly in the last 2023 general elections was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Public Administration during the Convocation ceremony of the prestigious University in the Republic of Benin. Dr. Samson Bisiriyu who had been one of the topmost voices clamoring for the development of Ikorodu was awarded the degree in Public Administration for his unrivaled urge for the growth of his community. In a joint congratulatory message by the executive members of Igbega Ikorodu Movement, the organization saluted it's Convener on this current achievement, noting that this didn't come as a surprise because Dr. Samson Bisiriyu is known as someone poised for excellence.
