Ms Abisola Olusanya Empowers 33 Ikorodu Division Youths With Set-Up Equipments




In what appears as a committed and consistent zeal in ensuring that all Youths in Ikorodu division of Lagos state are well equipped and gainfully engaged, the Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State, Ms. Abisola Olusanya has empowered 33 Ikorodu youths with some start-up instruments ranging from Make-up kits, Hairdressing equipments, Tailoring instruments. It should be noted that, this is the 3rd edition of such empowerment which is powered by Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative (IDYI). 1st and 2nd edition of similar event was sponsored by Honorable S.O.B  Agunbiade, Hon Nurudeen Solaja and Hon. Babajimi Benson(Member, House of Representatives). 3rd edition is sponsored by Hon Commissioner for Agriculture, Lagos State, Ms. Abisola Olusanya.

The event which was held on Saturday, 9th October, 2021 took place at the Rotary Vocational Centre, Igbogbo, Ikorodu.


The event had in attendance notable personalities from Ikorodu division. Such notable attendee is a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) who also doubled as the Father of the day, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun (Asiwaju of Igbogbo Kingdom) while addressing the beneficiaries, the Father of the day enjoined the beneficiaries to make good use of this rare opportunity in ensuring that a long lasting wealth is created for themselves. 

He also stressed that, the Lagos State Government means well for it's over 20million residents only if the residents can make best use of the available channels in Lagos to pursue their respective goals and ambitions in the state. Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun also bestowed accolades on the Commissioner for Agriculture for her relentless efforts in using her God-given position to engage Ikorodu Youths in order for them to be meaningfully employed and ultimately shunning all forms of social vices which could truncate their future.

Fatimo Ewetoye, a beneficiary of the same gesture in 2020 appreciated the organizers for such opportunity. She emphasized that since she was empowered with a sewing machine last year she has been able to create wealth for herself through sewing of dresses for different customers with the machine she was empowered with.

The representative of the Agric Commissioner at the event, Barrister Ayeni advised the graduands to make maximum use of the equipments handed over to them. He admonished the beneficiaries against selling the equipments, saying that act will be inimical to the good intentions of the donors.


Speaking on behalf of Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative(IDYI), the BOT Chairman of the group, Dr. Abatan appreciated the Commissioner for stretching her hand of goodies and positive impacts to Ikorodu Youths, noting that all other public office holders should emulate same attitude while in office. The BOT Chairman of IDYI also emphasized on the mission of the group, he insisted that the movement will always stand for the interest of all youths in Ikorodu division.


The beneficiaries collectively appreciated the sponsor and enabler of the project, Commissioner Abisola Olusanya and the Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative (IDYI) respectively.


Other dignitaries who graced the event include and not limited to; Dr Fatai Abatan, Mrs Bisi Bello Mustapha, Mrs Oluwakemi Kalesanwo,  Director, Lagos State Agency for Mass Education, ably represented by Mrs Onabanjo who is the Principal, Rotary Vocational Center. Also Hon. Azeez Olosugbo, Mr Seun Eleso, Hon Adedoyin Ogunbiyi  Jokotex were all at the event.
