Lagos Needs Sanwo-Olu Now More Than Ever, Ikorodu Youths Says

As the quest for the occupation of Lagos number 1 office heightens, Ikorodu Youths under the auspices of Igbega Ikorodu Youth has expressed the need for Lagosians to return incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu back in office.

In a statement signed by the group President, Comrade Ayorinde Bisiriyu, the group advises Lagosians to put the Greatness of the state first by reelecting the duo, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Kadri Hamzat back in office.

Comrade Bisiriyu said the teeming Youth in Lagos would not prevent any candidate vying for the governorship position from testing their strength at the election.

The executive members of the group has thrown their weight behind Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, to run the affairs of the state for another term of four years.

“We have a brilliant governor at the helm of affairs, who is supported by his deputy to build an unbreakable team that has raised the bar of excellence in governance in Lagos,” said Comrade Bisiriyu.

“I specially thank Dr Hamzat, who has been a very good assistant and a pillar of support to the governor.

“Sanwo-Olu with Hamzat has raised an impenetrable team. I commend both of them and all members of the cabinet. You have all done wonderfully well and I must say that the teeming Ikorodu Youths are very proud of you.”

He said the adoption of Governor Sanwo-Olu for second term was based on the projects and programmes initiated and completed by the governor as well as the ideas behind the projects and values they would add to the economic and infrastructural development of Lagos state ushering in the rising of a GREATER LAGOS.

The group further noted that the adoption was also based on the bond Governor Sanwo-Olu had with the people in terms of justice, fairness, and equality promotion and the synergy with the other arms of government.

They said, Sanwo-Olu’s competence and capacity in leadership made him suitable for reelection.

Stressing that continuity remained the bedrock of consistent leadership, the group through it leader said that Sanwo-Olu had been tested and trusted, as against those learning all over like his opponents.

"This Governor has faced more challenging times in the history of our dear state, Lagos and he has proven to be a leader of virtue, substance and decorum. I make bold to say that there is no Governor in Nigeria who is qualified to wear Governor Sanwo-Olu's shoes in this dispensation.

"Show me a leader in this country who has faced half of the challenges faced by Governor Sanwo-Olu in Lagos. Is it the COVID19 pandemic which if not for the proactive approach and excellent leadership skills of our amiable Governor, Nigeria would have recorded the deadliest human and material casualties in the world.

"The inglorious Endears, an event that it causes ain't the fault of the Governor as stipulated in our constitution. Truthfully, we all know a Governor doesn't have constitutional power over the police or any unit of the armed forces for that matter. But Governor Sanwo-Olu took the bull by its own and ensured all the grievances of the youths were met through his timely liaise with the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari. That's unprecedented!

"These and many more achievements are what necessitated our resolve as a Youth group to use our human and material resources to canvass sufficient votes capable of returning this astute leadership team of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu back to office till 2027," Comrade Bisiriyu said. 

Bisiriyu further stated, “We want to put the records straight that Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu excellently passed any known leadership standards.

"Since assumption of office, he (Sanwo-Olu) has never disappointed those who supported him to the exalted office as he continues to impress all and daze naysayers that he has what it takes to continue the development of Lagos as envisioned by the emeritus governor cum Nigeria's President-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed TInubu.

“In his over three years and nine months in the saddle, he has not failed to showcase development projects that are impactful to the people of the state,” he added.

Bisiriyu said that none of those who had indicated an interest in the office had a track record of achievements both in the public and private sectors.

According to him, Governor Sanwo-Olu is justifying the confidence reposed in him by his party and Lagos residents by assembling a team of dedicated Nigerians into different ministries and agencies in delivering on his THEMES agenda. 

The group urges all Lagosians to troop out en masse on the 18th of March, 2023 to vote for the CONTINUITY of a Greater Lagos and all other APC Candidates in the House of Assembly race for Ikorodu Constituency 1 and 2, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye and Aro Moshood Abiodun respectively. Stressing that Lagos needs Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu more than he needs Lagos.
