EMPOWERING THE FUTURE: IKORODU DIVISION YOUTH INITIATIVE (IDYI) REACHED OUT TO 1,100 GIRLS IN 6 SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN THE 6 LCDAS IN IKORODU DIVISION IN AN IMPACTFUL SCHOOL TOUR

Ikorodu, Lagos State.

In a week-long initiative that aimed to inspire, educate, and uplift young minds, Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative conducted a transformative school tour across Ikorodu Division from Monday, November 6th, to Friday, November 10th, 2023.

The tour, organized in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child 2023, focused on crucial topics including menstrual health, education, and career aspirations.

Reaching Hearts and Minds:
During the tour, Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative reached out to 1,100 girls across 6 secondary schools in the 6 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Ikorodu Division. The schools visited include:
- Shams-El-Deen Junior Grammar School, Ikorodu Central
- Majidun Junior Grammar School, Ikorodu West LCDA
- Keme Balogun Junior College, Igbogbo/Bayeiku LCDA
- Isiu Junior Grammar School, Ikorodu North LCDA
- Ansar-ud-deen Junior Grammar School, Imota LCDA
- Abule-Eko Community Junior Grammar School

Supporting Menstrual Health:
In an effort to address menstrual health awareness, Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative proudly distributed sanitary pads to the girls, recognizing the importance of hygiene and well-being.

Gracious Support from Partners:
The success of the tour was made possible through the generous support of Sanitary Aids Initiative and Kimberly Clark, dedicated organizations committed to making a difference in menstrual health.

Infrastructural Intervention Plans:
Beyond discussions, IDYI took note of the conditions of school infrastructure and learning environments during the tour. In response, the organization is initiating infrastructural intervention plans to enhance the educational experience for students. The call is now open to well-wishers and stakeholders to join hands in supporting these initiatives.

A Call to Action:
Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative extends an earnest call to well-wishers, stakeholders, and the community to support the infrastructural intervention plans. Contributions will play a vital role in improving classrooms, facilities, and overall learning environments for these schools.
In a chat with Oluwakeji Onabajo, the Executive Director of Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative, he said "Our commitment goes beyond the tour; it's about creating lasting change. With the support of our partners and the community, we aim to make a meaningful impact on the education and well-being of these girls."
