CFPNg Set To Mobilise Residents For PVC Collection In Ikorodu

The Centre for Posterity NG has lamented the alarming number of uncollected Voter’s Cards at Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Ikorodu.

The group said that more than 10,000 PVCs were yet to be collected by their respective owners in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The Convener of CPNg, Honourable Samson Bisiriyu made the disclosure at an event in Lagos recently. He said the sensitization and mobilization of Ikorodu residents to collect their voters’ card would be tagged; “Operation pickup your PVC".

He lamented that without voters card people have no business with 2023 general elections while urging the residents to come onboard by taking advantage opened to them via the platform of Centre for Posterity NG to get their PVCs in a seamless way in order to be eligible to vote in the 2023 general election.

“It is of prime importance to note that without a voters’ card, you are a docile follower and a threat to our democracy. Let us see it as a patriotic, national obligation and duty to enthrone good governance.

“We are aware of the economic, social and psychological challenges being faced by our people in the process of getting their PVCs which is why we are bringing up this platform for them to ride on in order to get their PVCs at various designated INEC's collection centres across Ikorodu division".

The group further stated that there are provisions already in place to pick up residents from their various homes to and fro INEC's designated PVC collection centres across Ikorodu.

The group also informed the public that the exercise which is expected to kickoff soon would last for about three (3) weeks all in effort to ensure that no single registered voter is disenfranchised in the forthcoming 2023 general elections as a result of the strict procedures peculiar to the collection of PVC.

Centre for Posterity NG also stated that the project would involve provision of FREE buses across Ikorodu division which are to convey people to and fro their respective INEC's designated PVC collection centres.

“Wise people do the best and first things first. It is pertinent to note that politics determines and drives the socioeconomic, religious and cultural life of every nation and power is where actions depend.

“INEC should devise strategic methods and marshal plan to dispatch voters card to their respective owners. They should embark on vigorous enlightenment campaigns to educate and mobilize citizens on the ineluctable need to collect their PVC, which is the only weapon to vote and be voted for.

“INEC should collaborate with traditional rulers, civil society organisations, religious leaders and president general of town unions in finding more convenient and less cumbersome means of PVC collection by registrants.

“Elections should be all-inclusive for it to be credible, free, fair and generally acceptable, hence, we reiterate our commitment in assisting our people in Ikorodu in getting their PVCs without necessarily facing hiccups", Samson stated.
