SANWO-OLU APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF DR. EMMANUELLA ZAMBA AS LASHMA SUBSTANTIVE GENERAL MANAGER

  Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Emmanuella Zamba as the substantive General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA). According to a statement issued, on Monday, by the Lagos State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, her confirmation as substantive General Manager is in recognition of her hard work and achievements since assuming the leadership of the Agency a few months ago. The HoS averred that before her formal confirmation as the substantive General Manager of the Agency, Dr. Zamba had served as Head of the Agency in an acting capacity since 24th March, 2020. Congratulating the General Manager on her confirmation, Muri-Okunola urged her to continue to raise the bar, particularly on the State Health Insurance Scheme, which represents a critical pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda and a significant milestone in the State Government’s obligation to Lagosians.

KETU-MILE 12 ROAD RECONSTRUCTION: LASG ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC DIVERSION

  In line with the on-going reconstruction works on Ketu - Mile-12 Section of the Lagos/Ikorodu Road, Lagos State Government has announced the diversion of traffic on the corridor from Friday, 21st August to Wednesday, 21st October 2020. The announcement which was contained in a statement issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, stated that the diversion became necessary in order to allow the contractor handling the project commence the second segment of the reconstruction works along Mile 12 to Ketu, having completed the first segment, Ketu - Mile 12 corridor. The Commissioner noted that the government has outlined alternative routes for road users during the construction period, while LASTMA and other Traffic Management Agencies will be on ground to direct traffic in order to ensure free vehicular movement in the axis during the construction period.   Prominent Ikorodu Youth Leader, Comrade Samson Bisiriyu has expressed absolute worrisomeness on the state of road and hectic traffic to and fro Ikorodu road, lamenting that the hurdles faced daily by Ikorodu residents to work is becoming unbearable. Expressing his total displeasure on the state of one way route tro and fro in Ikorodu to the rest of the state, Comrade Samson Bisiriyu lamented that going out of Ikorodu and coming to Ikorodu is killing, hectic and horrible.  He emphasized the need for alternative routes. "Where is our 4th Mainland Bridge and Agric Arepo road?   ATTENTION, Lagos State Government and To Whom it may Concern, the time for an alternative roads cum routes which is expected to ease the gory being experienced by Ikorodu  residents on a daily basis  is now. BREAKING: Lagos Health Commissioner Test Positive For COVID19

  Subsequent to close contact with persons feeling unwell and testing positive for the COVID-19 infection, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has tested positive for the virus. Professor Abayomi became aware of his status following the required testing protocol of contact tracing procedures. However, he is doing well with no symptoms. Adhering to the protocol of the homebased strategy in Lagos State, the Honorable Commissioner will be isolating in his home for the next 14 days but will continue to discharge his duties both as the Deputy Incident Commander of the Incident Command System for COVID-19 and most especially, as the Honorable Commissioner for Health.  Our prayers are with him and his family during his period of isolation.

IKORODU SUB-REGION MASTER PLAN: LASG PRESENTS DRAFT REPORT FOR PUBLIC INSPECTION

  I line with its inclusive governance drive, the Lagos State Government is set to display for public inspection the draft final report on the Ikorodu Sub-Region Master Plan. Speaking on the modalities of the public display exercise, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako disclosed in Alausa on Friday that the public display would take place for 28days in twelve different centres across the State, starting from Monday 24th August and ending on 30th September, 2020. The display centres include Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat, the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority(LASPPPA) district offices along Beach Road, Ikorodu and the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja as well as LASPPPA headquarters, Old Secretariat, Ikeja.   The Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative (IDYI) has successfully secured five (5) job slots under the FG's public works scheme for Ikorodu local government. The five (5) job allocations were given to the organization by Ikorodu Federal, State representatives and the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government.   Two (2) allocations from Hon Babajimi Benson, Member House of Representatives, Ikorodu Federal Constituency.  Lagos State Government has given assurance of a sustainable supply of Paddy from local farmers for the 32 metric tonne-per-hour Rice Mill at Imota upon completion by December 2020. The Acting Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, made the disclosure today in Lagos, during an inspection tour of the Rice Mill by members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture led by its Chairman, Mr. Kehinde Joseph. Olusanya explained that rice farmers in the State are currently getting the needed support of the government to ensure that they have a hitch-free planting season of steady and sustained supply of Paddy for the mill. The Lagos State Government has warned prospective property buyers and uptakers to beware of buildings without Planning Permits as such would be subject to enforcement by the regulatory authority. The warning was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako in Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday. The Commissioner noted with dismay the persistent disregard for Physical Planning Laws by developers, who have continuously engaged in building construction without approval all over the State, cautioning buyers to beware of property without Planning Permit so as to avoid being caught up by the law. Lagos Extends Trading Hours For Markets

The Lagos State Government has extended the hours of operations of both food markets and non food markets. They are now to open at 8am and close at 6pm. In a statement signed by the commissioner for local government and community affairs, Dr Wale Ahmed, the decision of the  Governor Mr Babajide Sanwoolu is to further enhance trade and commerce and mitigate the hardship of the covid-19 pandemic. Dr Ahmed emphasised that the alternate days of operations still remains in force whereby food markets open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, while non food markets open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  He urged all traders to adhere strictly to the covid-19 protocols for their safety and the citizenry at large.
